Watercolor paintings and figure studies

This site is meant to be a living record of the work I enjoy most and the ideas I’m curious about right now. As those interests shift, the work will too.

Putting this website together turned into an unexpected editing exercise (in the best way). Instead of trying to show everything I’ve ever made, I chose to focus on where I’m going next. I’m especially interested in learning more about pigments and the natural flow of watercolor, paying attention to how paint and water want to move, and how those natural processes can be part of the work rather than something to control.

Introduction

The work is organized into a small set of galleries, each focused on a particular idea or line of inquiry. Rather than documenting everything I’ve made, these collections reflect the directions I want to continue exploring.

Together, the galleries offer a snapshot of where my attention is right now, and an invitation to follow along as the work continues to evolve.

Galleries

The Galleries

An ongoing watercolor series exploring balance through organic, transparent forms. Each composition evolves through observation, allowing pigment and water to shape subtle relationships between color, weight, and space.

Color Stones

An exploration of watercolor through repeated, organic-shaped rocks.

Each piece is created through small, layered studies, allowing color, water, and form to evolve naturally across the page.

Framed Rocks

This gallery features a small group of paintings that grew out of my Watercolor for Calm practice and were taken a step further in the studio.

These pieces are a way for me to quiet my mind while exploring pure color, shape, and pigment, using deeper values and granulation, and allowing the paint to move and settle naturally.

Watercolor For Calm

Loose, observational drawings created during live figure sessions.

The focus is on gesture, proportion, and clarity, rather than finish. These drawings are made quickly, prioritizing seeing and responding over refinement.

This body of work reflects an ongoing practice.

Figure Drawing

Most work is created using professional watercolor pigments on cotton paper.

I prefer limited palettes, building depth through transparent layering and deliberate color choices. Each piece develops through observation, adjustment, and attention to balance.
